This help guide covers the steps to add content clarifiers and what students see after you have added them.
- Note: If you would like to add Content Clarifiers as an accommodation, follow steps 1-3 to ensure questions have content clarifiers available, then set the student group settings to ensure students in those groups see the content clarifiers.
Creating a Content Clarifier:
1. In the Question Editor, click a Blue Pencil at the top right of the stimulus box to open the Rich Text Editor.
2. Highlight the word(s) you want to clarify and then click the Page and Pencil icon on the bottom row of editing options.
3. Enter the clarifier text and apply formatting if desired. You also have the option to add an image by clicking on the colorful, framed picture icon . Click OK at the bottom of the pop up when you are done.
Note: if you want to delete a content clarifier, highlight the text in the Rich Text Editor, click the Page and Pencil icon, and click the Delete button.
Even when questions have content clarifiers, they only appear for students when the assignment settings are set to show content clarifiers. To do this:
1. Open the Assignment Editor, click on the gear at the top right of the page, and select Open all Settings in the dropdown.
2. Choose Student View from the tabs on the left of the pop up, then scroll down and check the box to the right of Show Content Clarifiers.

A dotted line will appear under the selected text. To see the content clarifier, students click on the word(s) that are underlined with the dotted line.
