How to Use Assisted AI Grading

The AI Grader is only available for text-based "Free Response - #101" and "Essay Response - #100" question types.

  1. Go to the Grading Page for the assignment you wish to grade and click "Grade with AI" near the top right of your screen.

  1. From the popup, select the question and take you want AI to grade, and then click "Submit."

  2. You will be redirected to the AI Grading Assistant Page.
  3. When creating the assignment, if you haven't selected a single Grade/Subject or have selected multiple Grades/Subjects, you will be prompted to choose one Grade and Subject that aligns with the selected question. Please select the appropriate Grade and Subject in the drop downs, then click "Submit."

  1. Please review the instructions, notes, and guidelines, then click "Got it, Proceed with AI Grading."

  1. You will see a loading animation that indicates your question is being graded by AI. Once the grading is complete, you can view the results here.

Here’s what you’ll see on the AI Grading page:

  1. Assignment Name – Displays at the top of the page.

  2. Selected Question Prompt – Shows the question or part being graded.

  3. Question Part Dropdown – Lets you switch between different question parts.

  4. Points Assigned – Displays the total points possible for that question part.

  5. 📋 Rubric Icon – Click to view the rubric applied to the selected question part.

  6. Open All / Close All – Expand or collapse all student work and feedback at once.

  7. ✏️ Edit AI Score – Click to adjust the AI-generated score for a student.

  8. ✏️ Edit AI Feedback – Click to edit or override the AI-generated feedback.

  9. Expand / Collapse Row – Click the arrow to show or hide an individual student’s response and feedback.

  10. Select All Checkbox – Select all students at once.

  11. Individual Checkbox – Select specific students individually.

 

 

 

  1.  Viewing Rubrics: Click the 📋 Rubric Icon to open the Rubric Modal.

 

  1. Editing or Overriding AI Scores and Feedback

You can manually edit both the AI Score and Feedback for individual students:

  • Click the ✏️ (Edit) icon in the Score column to override the score.

  • Click the ✏️ (Edit) icon next to Feedback to customize the comment.

  • When you make any changes the modified field will be marked with a red asterisk (*) to indicate it is teacher-edited.

 

  1. Apply AI Grading

 

Once you’ve reviewed and made any edits:

  1. Select the students you want to apply AI grading to (use the Select All or individual checkboxes).

  2. Click “Apply Grading.”

This will apply the AI-graded (or teacher-override) scores and feedback for the selected students for the question.

 

 

10. Adjusting Rubric Criterion Scores

To view or override individual rubric criterion scores:

  1. Click the ✏️ Pencil Icon under the Score column.

  2. The Criterion Scores Modal will open, showing each rubric criterion and its AI-assigned score.

  3. The AI Graded Score appears in green.

  4. You can change scores for one or more criteria.

  5. Click “Save” to confirm your changes.
