Note: The Drag and Drop Math question type is versatile and starts with a blank canvas. It is made up of two sections:
1 - the Answer Area with the fixed information that students can't move, and
2 - the Answer Bank, containing the answer choice(s) students drag and drop into the answer box(es).
In the Answer Area, you will see a broken-lined box called an Answer Label that will contain any image(s) or text you choose to include. To edit an Answer Label, click on the Blue Pencil inside the lined box. To delete an Answer Label, click on the Red X. You will also see an Answer Box. This is where students will drag an Answer Choice. To delete an answer box, click on the Red X inside it.

5. To add an Answer Label, set Answer Choices, and edit the settings of your Drag and Drop Math question, click on the Settings Gear.
  1. Answer Labels: To add or edit an Answer Label, click on the Blue Pencil. You can add another label to your question by clicking on the +Add Label button and remove a label by clicking on the Red X.

  2. Answer Choices:  You can choose Digit, Numeric, Expression, or String form as Answer Choices. (Note: the letter(s) next to the answer type(s) correspond(s) to the letter(s) in the answer area). You can set the width of the Answer Box(es) as it/they appear in the grid (Note: you can also adjust the width and height by clicking and dragging Answer Boxes in the main Answer Area). Click on the Correct Answer(s) box(es) to set the Answer Choice(s) that will be dragged and dropped by students. You can also choose to add alternative correct answers, add new answers, or add distractor(s) for students.

  3. Student view: You can choose to shuffle answer choices for students, decide where you want the Answer Bank to be positioned (to the left, at the top, or at the bottom of the Answer Area), and decide on the Background Type for your question. For a background, you can choose to use a math grid or choose to use an image. If you choose the image option but don't actually select an image, the background will default to gray, like in the example below.
  4. Scoring: In terms of scoring, by default the question will be auto graded. You can choose to make your question teacher graded or you can select from advanced scoring options. There are two advanced scoring options: All or None and Conditional Scoring. With All or None scoring, students will only get a correct answer if they get all answers correct. When Conditional Scoring is turned on, the question will auto-grade against the set criteria instead of a specified number or range (see example below).
