How to Add a Rubric to a Question

1. From your Question Editor, click the Show More link to open more editing options.

2. Select the Rubric tab to the right of Tags.

3. To choose a rubric that is in our Rubric Library, select the Rubric Library button near the top left of the tab. To create a new rubric, select the Create New button near the top right of the tab.

4. If you choose to create your own rubric, enter your criteria in the space provided.  To add an additional row or column, click the yellow (+) at the top right of the rubric. To delete a column or a row, click the red (x) to the left of the rubric. To change the layout from vertical to horizontal, check the box to the left of Horizontal Layout. To hide the rubric from your students, check the box to the left of Hide from Students.

5. If you choose the Rubric Library button, you can choose a rubric from Sample Templates, My Rubrics, or Edcite Schools.  The Edcite Schools Rubric Library will only be available to Edcite Schools customers (click here to learn more about Edcite Schools).

  1. Note: If you want any column in your rubric to have different maximum points, enter "NOSCORE" in the cell(s) that you don't want included, as in the image below.

Important note: if you plan to use the Item Analysis Report in your data analysis, the rubric should be added at the question part level (even if your question has one part). To do this, click the "Rubric for" dropdown and select the appropriate question part.
